Internet World, Earls Court, London 29th April-1st May

The show is designed to educate business decision makers on the latest developments in the market and to introduce them to the suppliers who can help them implement their online strategies.

Brand Fuel made a stand for Google and arranged for goodie bags to be given out to the delegates that came to the Google university keynote sessions.

Gulltaggen, Oslo, Norway 23rd-25th April

Gulltaggen (The Golden Tag) is Scandinavia’s most important event for digital marketing, and was founded to stimulate and reward the new heroes of digital creativity. During the last 10 years, Gulltaggen has become an important event for anyone who is interested in keeping track with the fast changing times of digital marketing, providing media, marketing and bureau professionals with inspiration, and the tools and techniques they need to succeed in a changing digital world.

Google was supporting the event and Brand Fuel created a stand to give a local Google presence.
The event consisted of a conference with many influential Norwegian industry speakers; a gala dinner with a stage showcasing Norwegian bands; a networking evening for delegates.

ABTOF Conference

We went to Marseille where we put on a 2 day conference for ABTOF (The Association of British Tour Operators to France). Every year their annual conference takes place in a different French destination and they invite all of their members to join them. At the event there are presentations and informative discussions involving thought leaders and experts from within the travel industry. Delegates had the opportunity to quiz them on topics ranging from green travel to effective PR; Internet marketing to consumer research.

But we didn’t spend all of our time locked in a conference centre; the delegates went on various outings around Provence and got to see some of the beautiful countryside that the region is famous for. Evening entertainment was also welcomed with great enthusiasm (some were too enthusiastic for their own good). The whole event was rounded off with a gala dinner at the incredibly impressive Palais de la Bourse. We sat in the grand hall surrounded by amazingly carved stonework. Inevitably everybody moved from the dinner to the ‘official ABTOF’ bar, The Trolleybus, where a full size pitanque court in the basement kept us entertained until the small hours of the morning.

When we arrived at the airport for our flight home it became immediately obvious who had taken advantage of The Trolleybus more than others (of course we were amongst those who had remained completely sober throughout). We can’t wait for next year’s conference in Reims where the Champagne region is looking forward to showing us all they have to offer and we’re looking forward to a glass or two.

Google Earth Outreach Programme

We started working on a road show for Google, showcasing the Google Earth Outreach programme. The programme is designed to give Google Earth Pro and Sketch-up Pro to NGOs providing them with the skills and resources via Google Earth and Maps to show their work and highlight their cause to a mass audience. They can create layers and publish these on GoogleEarth, showing the areas that they work in - often war torn or poverty stricken countries.

The road show visited Amsterdam on the 31st of March, working at the NEMO Science Centre with Unicef; Hamburg on the 3rd of April at the Google offices with Greenpeace; Geneva ( as shown above) on the 8th of April at the UNHCR with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees; London on the 10th of April at Google offices in Victoria, with Sir David Attenborough who launched WaterAid's and Arkive's layer (which features over 100 threatened species).
